A sewing I will go...

Ashlee has been good for most of the day so I got my layer cake cut and got over half of the blocks sown. She is fighting sleep so my sewing has stalled some but that is ok. I just wish she would rest before her swim lesson tonight. Last night was her first night but a storm came through right before her session so we sat in the sun room and went over the safety stuff. So far it is sunny today so I hope she gets to swim tonight.

Here are some pics from last night:

These are from my cell since I left my camera in the car. I did get some before we left the house but again I left my camera in Jamie's car.

Waiting for her session to start:

During the storm. She did good. Usually she is scared of storms and cries non stop but she just kept her fingers in her ears the entire time. The wind got up really bad and blew over all the stuff around the pool and blew over her recycle garbage can, breaking glass in the process.

And here is what I did this morning. I cut my layer cake into 3 1/2" and 6 1/2", rearranged the pieces then sewed them together. I got all 42 sewn together then cut in half, now I am working on rearranging then and pieces them together. I can't wait to see my Berenstain Bears Quilt! Doing the Double Slice Layer Cake pattern. Oh and Ashlee was taking "pictures" of it while I worked. I think she got my arm for 90% of the pictures. lol

My Memorial Day!

First off I want to thank every soldier, fallen and those still fighting, for their service. I know the sacrifice you and your family makes for our freedom which we take for granted every day. So Thank You!

Second, it was a lazy day for us. We went to pick out fish for our new fish tank. Ashlee loves it of course. I worked on a skirt for my store. Later Jamie grilled some pork chops for supper. Ashlee was in a good mood all day until she woke up from her nap, now she is CRANKY! I think her belly is hurting because she is super whiny and can't seem to go potty; she does have issues with that from time to time.

Well here are some pics:

Other news, I am frustrating with geting pictures for my store. While I know they are not the best, I don't think they are the worse but I have had some say the pictures are "dirty" in the fact they are on a fence and another say to chop off Ashlee's head so I don't have to put the watermark. Well I want the watermark because it is Ashlee, with or without her face showing. Oh well, I will do what I feel looks good to me....for now. lol

Trying to stock the store!

This weekend I got some time to sew. I got 3 blankets made and 2 mug rugs. All are in my store now. Check them out.

Here are a pic of each.

What do you think of the blankets on the fence? Bad staging? Unique? Need suggestions on a good staging for the blankets and the rugs too.

Dreaming of sewing

Well life has been busy and I don't get alot of "me" time so I haven't been able to sew much lately. I did buy some wonderful fabric in the last couple of weeks and I am itching to start playing.

Here is what I have bought so far. I am hoping to go back to my LQS today since they are having a sale. :)

I can't wait to use this fabric. I want to make ME a quilt with it. It is between a D9P or Stacked Coin pattern.

Oh I also bought both of the One Yard Wonder books; bought one at the store and ordered the other online. I hope it gets here next week. I already want to try the kids' chef hat and apron, the apron for me, maybe the chair, and who knows what else. lol

So anyone who reads this, what are your sewing plans for this Memorial Day weekend?

Little projects

I started a project for an end of the year gift for Ashlee's teachers. I need frames before I post a picture of them.

I did make Mom a mug rug today. She went through my little stash and picked out what she wanted. I didn't do a binding this go around. I thought it turned out cute and mom liked it so yay!

Also, Ashlee wore her newest skirt to school today. She looked so adorable. Mom had bought her the orange shirt and it went so well with it.

I got a new machine!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had found a machine on Craigslist but decided to go to the local sewing machine dealer to see what they had. They had a used Janome DC2011 with all the accessories! She is a beauty! Runs so smooth and quiet. I can't wait to get to sewing on her; more than little stitches on scraps. lol

I did pick up some fabric at Wal-Mart tonight; they had some on sale for $3/yd. Got 3 yards of a corduroy fabric and a quilted panel that just needs binding.

Here is my new machine! So excited!

Sewing Spree

Since Little Bit is with the grandparents this weekend, I decided to do some sewing. This morning I went to JoAnn's since they have their flannel on sale. I got enough for 3 receiving blankets. I also got a yardage to make Ashlee's 4th of July skirt and the June Tailor Shape Cut Ruler (yay for 50% coupon). I also got birdhouses to make this cute birdhouse for Mom for Mother's Day.

After I got home, I ate then started sewing. I got 2 blanket done and SOLD! Yes sold! My friend Rachel is going to buy them for her emboridery business. I told her I had to wash them first to make sure all seams are good. But yay!

Here are the blankets I made today. The girlie one is smaller than I meant for it to be but I am still no good at cutting a straight line and my cutting mat is messed up so it makes for cutting hard.

I am in love with the monkey blanket. Mom wants one...which I figured thus the reason I bought enough for 2 blankets. lol

Getting better at miter corners!

Next up is to make some Mug Rugs.

Update: Mug Rug made! Not perfect as I tried something different for the binding...next time I will stick with what I know. lol
